Skin Care Treatments with or without Eczema

Taking care of your skin and finding a daily skin care treatment is important to your health. Our skin is the largest organ of our bodies and it protects us and controls our body temperature. We should protect our skin to keep us healthy and at the same time keep our skin looking beautiful.

For people suffering from eczema, skin care treatment can be even more vital and difficult to take care of. People with eczema have to pay careful attention to the types of soap, makeup, and even water temperature they are using. Finding the correct skin care treatments to use can have the ability to decrease uncomfortable flare ups and decrease irritation of the skin.

Skin produces oil to stay moisturized. When we shower, these natural oils are washed off. During the day, the natural oils are reproduced in our skin. For people with eczema, the oils are harder to be reproduced through our skin which results in dry, flaky, irritated skin and sometimes rashes. Controlling the water temperature will help to keep more of the oil intact and not wash all of it off our skin. Shower water should be warm; not too hot or too cold. However, the colder the water will result in less oils being washed off. Keep your shower times short too. Avoiding extreme temperatures is important for any type of skin care whether it be for someone who has eczema or not.

After you find the appropriate water temperature to shower with, next choose a soap that is right for your skin type. Organic, natural skin care products are the best to use. They are fragranced with natural oils and don’t use harsh alcohol based scents. Using natural products will reduce flare ups for people who have eczema, and for those who don’t, it will prevent your skin from becoming dry. Bar soaps can have the tendency to dry out your skin more so than liquid soaps.

It is important to moisturize after you shower in case the soap you used can dry out your skin. Preventing a flare up or dry skin will ensure little to no irritation. Use moisturizing lotions for your face and body every day. Putting face moisturizer on before you apply makeup, ladies, will actually help the makeup look better and is easier to apply. If you have eczema, it is important to find a moisturizer that isn’t fragranced. Look for moisturizers that come in oil or lotion form.

These skin care treatments will help your skin stay healthy, and for people with eczema it will reduce the amount of flare ups that are occurring. Keeping your skin in good condition is vital for our health.
